8 Days Tanzania Best Family Safari is designed to be the ultimate safari experience for families with children. We do have quite a lot of experience in traveling with children and we don’t mind at all adjusting the day program while traveling. The schedule of our family safaris allows time for walking, swimming, and playing. All accommodations in our example family safari are lodges or tented lodges with a swimming pool. However, if you prefer nature camping with your kids in one of the Natural Parks (or a combination of nature camping and lodges), please contact us for a proposal. To provide you with an unforgettable experience, this safari can be done only as a private safari. The choice of accommodation available is mid-range to luxury-grade tented camps and lodges.
The arrival of your flight at Kilimanjaro International Airport. You will be warmly welcomed by our representative and your driver-guide outside the customs and immigration hall. You will be assisted with your bags and proceed to your hotel. If time permits, you will have a tour briefing at the hotel lobby ready to start your safari proper in the morning. Your safari will begin by 8 AM in the morning with a pick-up from your hotel at Arusha. Once everyone is aboard, you will head toward Tarangire National Park. The national park is extremely famous and special for its diverse landscape and nine different vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be welcomed by the ancient and gigantic Baobab trees, which make even animals like the giraffe look tiny. The game drive goes on till about late afternoon and includes a small stop for a picnic lunch. The 3,000 sq km park gets its name from the Tarangire river that flows through it.
The river attracts a lot of diverse animals and you should be able to spot a lot of elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes, and zebra. If it’s your lucky day, you might be able to spot the tree-climbing python and the long-necked Gerek. The Tarangire National Park has the highest concentration of elephants, which offers a unique chance for you to observe interactions between elephant families. Don’t forget to capture this beautiful scenery with your camera ready at hand. Post the game drive, you will head back to your lodge where a delicious dinner awaits you. Have a good night’s sleep for tomorrow’s adventure.

After breakfast, we proceed to Olduvai Gorge (Optional Activity), known as the ‘Cradle of Mankind’. It was here, in the Great Rift Valley, that the remains of early hominids dating back 2 million years were uncovered. Afterward, we visit the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world – Serengeti National Park. The word ‘Serengeti’ means ‘endless plains’, which describes the park’s 5,600 square mile boundary. Yet for its sprawling area, the Serengeti does not disappoint when it comes to rich game viewing. Annually, from May to December, millions of animals embark on a migration that brings them from central Serengeti to Kenya’s Masai Mara and back again in an incredible spectacle. Even during the ‘down-time’, vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle roam here, along with groups of elephants, giraffes, and buffalo. As the lions, leopard, cheetah, hyenas, and jackals stalk their meals, we enjoy a picnic lunch in this open arena la. Late afternoon drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight

A full-day game drive is a good option this day to spot the nocturnal species and the diurnal ones as they rise for a new day. During the morning also many animals will easily be spotted by the sides of the tracks as they escape the morning dew, and enjoy the songs of the rising birds. Depending on the time that you season that you visit Serengeti you can be lucky to see the herds of the Great Wildebeests Migration (ask our experts for their location). Even without the wildebeest Migration herds in Serengeti; thousands of resident animals including buffaloes, leopards, cheetahs, lions, elephants, topis, Thompsons, and Grant’s gazelles, impalas, warthogs, and many bird species that never are resident to this incredible park.

For your safari today, by 9 AM in the morning you will head out for a short game drive in the Serengeti after a good breakfast. After completing a half-day game drive along with a picnic lunch, we will branch out and head towards the Ngorongoro crater rim. The 75 km drive to Ngorongoro Crater rim will take about 2.5 hrs, with mild game action to see on the way. The crater is one of Africa’s impressive geological attractions and the supreme mecca of wilderness. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good rest in your choice of accommodation. Get a good rest and refuel yourself, for the following day, you will descend into the massive crater.

Accommodation: Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge
You’ll descend into the crater very early in the morning for a game drive with a picnic lunch at midday. One of the 8th Wonders of the World, the crater is a very important refuge for a variety of wildlife. Most commonly seen are big bulls of elephants and the vulnerable species of black rhinos. The crater is also home to big herds of wildebeest and zebras, Thomson and grant gazelles, hippopotami, African cape buffalos, pride of lions, hyenas, serval cats, golden and black-backed jackals, and close to 400 species of bird. You will continue towards the Serengeti, enjoying a lovely scenic drive with views of the Ngorongoro conservation area. You’ll continue on your drive with game viewing en route before arriving at the camp for dinner and rest.

This morning you will drive to Lake Manyara, taking around an hour. Described as one of the hidden gems of Tanzania, this park is famous for its tree-climbing lions and large herds of elephants, which are not shy to come straight up to the vehicle. After lunch you will drive back to Arusha, taking approximately 2-3 hours.
