4 Days Mount Meru Trekking hike to the peak of Mount Meru is completed in three days. Situated at the heart of the Arusha National Park, Mount Meru overlooks the spectacular plains of the savannah. Meru was sculpted into its distinctive shape thousands of years ago when a volcanic blast destroyed an immense bulk of the eastward flank of the mountain. The fertile slopes are home to a vast range of wildlife. The climb to the summit alongside the volcanic caldera doesn’t require an athlete or an extreme alpinist but you should be in relatively good shape. Mount Meru climbing entails steep slopes, it can be challenging but you won’t regret conquering it. The enchanting view and diverse wildlife of Kilimanjaro’s little brother make this the ideal trek for an adventurous thrill seeker
Day 0 Kilimanjaro Airport to Arusha
We will arrange for a driver to transport you from the airport to your hotel. Orientation regarding your trek will take place at the Silver Palm Hotel. Your guides will provide information about the trek and perform a comprehensive inspection of your gear. They will also clarify any further questions.

Day 1 Arusha to Miriakamba Hut
Breakfast then leave the hotel for Momella gate which is the starting point of Mount Meru trekking, for formal registration and final preparation. With the accompany of an assigned armed ranger, you will start to climb through the open grassland with some game spots of giraffes and buffaloes to be spotted, emerging at the alpine forest to waterfalls as a picnic area for lunch and rest for a while, thereafter ascending further to Miriakamba for dinner and overnight stay

Day 2 Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
After breakfast then the climb will continue following the wooden steps along a steep trek in a very cool temperature as the cloud always hang low in the fascinating rainforest before creating a moody atmosphere in the lush vegetation. Passing through the uphill while heading to the vintage point of mgongo wa tembo (elephant back) before drifting from rainforest type of vegetation to heather and moorland that lead the way to Saddle.
After a long rest ascent to Little Meru for acclimatization then descent to Saddle for dinner and overnight stay

Day 3 Saddle Hut to Momela Gate
Wake up a bit early after snacks and some hot drinks then leave the hut for the summit by following the trail through the bushland to Rhino Point as the climb starts to get its rhythm, passing into the volcanic ash to the rock and gravel and then following the crater rim to reach the Socialist peak(summit).
The views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru Ash cone will be fantastic with the sun rising experience, the descent will follow the same trail back to Saddle Hut for a long break and recuperation before descent further to Miriakamba for dinner and overnight

Day 4 Arusha to Kilimanjaro Airport
After breakfast, descend further to Momella gate by following the northern route on the way down with the chance of seeing elephants, buffaloes, giraffes as well as black and white colobus monkeys. After signing off at Momella gate then pick up and drive to your hotel in Arusha
