Experience the incredible wildlife and breathtaking landscapes of Tanzania on this 8-day Ndutu Calving Season and Great Serengeti Migration Safari. This unforgettable journey takes you through four of Tanzania’s most spectacular national parks and conservation areas: Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Lake Manyara National Park.
The highlight of this safari is the Ndutu region, located in the southern Serengeti ecosystem, where the Great Wildebeest Migration gathers on the nutrient-rich short-grass plains from December to April. February is particularly special, as it is usually the peak of the wildebeest calving season, when hundreds of thousands of calves are born within a relatively short period.
During your adventure, you will have excellent opportunities to witness large herds of wildebeest and zebras, along with predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and leopards. You will also explore Tarangire’s famous elephant herds, descend into the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater, and discover the diverse landscapes and birdlife of Lake Manyara National Park.
This safari combines exceptional wildlife viewing, beautiful scenery, and comfortable lodge and tented camp accommodation for an unforgettable African adventure.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK), a representative from Crown Eagle Adventures will welcome you and transfer you to your accommodation in Arusha.
After check-in, enjoy some time to relax after your journey. Depending on your arrival time, you may explore the surrounding area or simply unwind at the lodge. Your safari guide will brief you on the upcoming adventure and answer any questions you may have.
After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, passing through scenic Maasai plains dotted with acacia trees and traditional villages.
Tarangire is renowned for its impressive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. During your game drive, explore the park’s savannahs, seasonal swamps, and the Tarangire River, an important water source for wildlife, particularly during the dry season.
Keep your eyes open for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and various antelope species. With luck, you may also spot lions resting in the shade or a leopard hidden among the trees.
After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, drive to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for Serengeti National Park, travelling through the beautiful Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Along the way, enjoy views of the highlands, traditional Maasai communities, and the dramatic landscapes surrounding the Ngorongoro Crater. You may encounter wildlife along the route as you continue towards the world-famous Serengeti plains.
Arrive in Serengeti around midday, depending on road and wildlife-viewing conditions. After entering the park, enjoy an en-route game drive across its vast savannahs, rocky outcrops, and open grasslands.
The Serengeti is famous for its remarkable wildlife diversity and the Great Wildebeest Migration. You may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, and predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Continue to your tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Enjoy an early breakfast before setting out for a full day of wildlife exploration in Central Serengeti.
The central region, particularly the Seronera area, is known for its excellent year-round wildlife viewing and resident populations of large predators. Its river valleys and surrounding plains attract a wide variety of animals, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and antelopes.
Depending on the season and rainfall, you may also encounter migrating herds of wildebeest and zebras moving across the plains in search of fresh grazing.
Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park before continuing your game drive through different habitats. Your experienced safari guide will help you search for wildlife and explain the animals’ behaviour and the Serengeti ecosystem.
In the late afternoon, return to your camp to relax, enjoy dinner, and spend another night beneath the African sky.
After breakfast, depart for the Ndutu region in the southern Serengeti ecosystem, travelling through scenic plains where wildlife may be encountered along the way.
Ndutu is one of the most important areas for witnessing the Great Wildebeest Migration during the green season. From December to April, large herds often gather on the southern plains, attracted by the fresh grass that grows after seasonal rains.
Upon arrival, enjoy a game drive through the Ndutu area, exploring its open grasslands, woodlands, seasonal lakes, and marshes. This region supports a wide variety of wildlife, including wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, giraffes, and numerous bird species.
During the calving season, you may witness newborn wildebeest calves staying close to their mothers while predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and leopards search the plains for opportunities.
After your afternoon game drive, proceed to your tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Today is dedicated to exploring the Ndutu region, with a full day of game drives focused on the Great Wildebeest Migration and its remarkable calving season.
After breakfast, venture into the southern Serengeti plains to search for the vast herds of wildebeest and zebras that gather here during the green season. The landscape includes open short-grass plains, woodlands, swamps, and seasonal lakes, each supporting a variety of wildlife.
February is generally an excellent month to witness wildebeest calving, although the timing and location of the herds depend on rainfall and seasonal conditions. During the peak period, large numbers of calves are born over a relatively short time, attracting predators and creating exceptional wildlife-viewing opportunities.
Look out for cheetahs scanning the open plains, lions resting near the herds, and hyenas moving through the grasslands. Your guide will help you locate wildlife while maintaining a respectful distance from the animals.
Enjoy a picnic lunch during your game drive before continuing your exploration throughout the afternoon. Later, return to your camp to relax, enjoy dinner, and reflect on the extraordinary wildlife encounters of the day.
After breakfast, enjoy an en-route game drive through the Ndutu region before travelling towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Descend into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife destinations. Formed by the collapse of a large volcanic structure, the crater measures approximately 600 metres deep and covers around 260 square kilometres.
The crater floor contains grasslands, woodland, freshwater springs, and a soda lake, supporting a remarkable concentration of wildlife throughout the year.
During your game drive, look for zebras, wildebeest, gazelles, buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and a variety of bird species. With luck, you may also encounter the endangered black rhinoceros. Lions and hyenas are among the predators frequently seen in this unique ecosystem.
Enjoy a picnic lunch during your crater exploration before ascending to the crater rim and continuing to your accommodation.

During your game drive, look for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, baboons, and other primates. The park is also an excellent destination for birdwatching, with flamingos and many other waterbirds potentially present depending on seasonal conditions and water levels.
Enjoy your final wildlife encounters before departing for Arusha in the afternoon. You will be transferred to your hotel or to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport, depending on your onward travel arrangements.
