Itinerary – 7 Days Machame Route Kilimanjaro Climb

Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Distance: 10.75 km | Time: 5–6 hrs | Zone: Rainforest
Begin the climb through lush rainforest, encountering fascinating flora and unique wildlife. The trail may be muddy; trekking poles are recommended.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Distance: 5.3 km | Time: 4–5 hrs | Zone: Moorland
Climb above the forest into moorlands with stunning views of the Shira Plateau.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Lava Tower, then Barranco Camp

Distance: 10.75 km | Time: 5–6 hrs | Zone: Semi-Desert
Acclimatization day. Ascend to 4650m at Lava Tower and descend to sleep at a lower elevation.

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Distance: 5.2 km | Time: 3–4 hrs | Zone: Alpine Desert
Climb the famous Barranco Wall and traverse valleys to reach Karanga Camp.

Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Distance: 3.3 km | Time: 3–4 hrs | Zone: Alpine Desert
Short climb to the final base camp before the summit push. Rest early.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak, descend to Mweka Camp

Distance: 4.86 km up + 11.5 km down | Time: 10–12 hrs
Summit day! Reach Uhuru Peak (5895m), then descend to Mweka Camp for rest.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate, return to Arusha

Distance: 9.1 km | Time: 3–4 hrs
Final descent through lush rainforest. Receive your certificate at Mweka Gate and return to Arusha.
